Top 10 Disney Weddings!

Hi Everyone

I thought I would treat you to another Top 10! And I also remembered I have Disney font. So to make it even more Disneyfied, here we go.

10:- 101 Dalmatians, 1961, Walt Disney Productions

This joint wedding made it very clear that the moment wasn’t about Anita and Roger, but their Dalmatian dogs Perdita and Pongo. In the original version we know Roger is a song writer and Anita’s career is unknown, which makes their wedding beautiful and simple for a film based in 1950’s. But we do get to see an amazing 101 Dalmatians wedding in the 1996 live action film, made by Walt Disney Pictures. This version focuses more on Anita and Roger’s wedding, rather than Pongo and Perdy. No talking dogs/animals, so the original 1961 wedding remains the best.

9:- Tangled Ever After, 2012, Walt Disney Animation Studios

This short animation film, which focuses on the Royal wedding between Rapunzel and Flinn Ryder. If it wasn’t for youtube.com I would never had known this existed, Rapunzel looks like she is wearing the same dress only in a different colour, so from purple to white! Flinn looks the best! But it does it for him.

8:- Robin Hood, 1973, Walt Disney Productions

This is the future hubby’s favourite film, so when I even say the title all I can do is try get the song “oh de la le” out of my head! Robin Hood and Maid Marian, they are cute and both foxes so at least it isn’t going against natures law.

7:- Aladdin and the King of Thieves, 1966, Walt Disney Television Animation

This is a straight to video release used to be one of my favourites, it’s finally Jasmine and Aladdin’s wedding, but his father ruins the day and it turns out he is the King of Thieves. Some pretty catchy tunes too. Plus Disney was at its height for merchandise you could by the dolls in their wedding gear.

6:- Enchanted, 2007, Walt Disney Productions

Prince Edward, the lucky handsome devil has two weddings in this film, but only one of the brides makes it down the aisle. So it was his wedding to Nancy Tremaine that makes it at number six. In this film they girlfriend swop, with Idina Menzel looking amazing as a cartoon version, we’ll have to wait for Enchanted 2 to see their happily ever after. Disappointed she didn’t sing in this movie!

5:- Little Mermaid, 1989, Walt Disney Pictures

Prince Edward is not the only lucky man to appear twice on this list, but so does his buddy Prince Eric. Well I’ve got to give it to Ursula/ Vanessa credit her wedding was beautiful before it got crashed! Let’s face it Ursula is a bad ass villain, she almost steals the film!

4:- Cinderella, 1950, Walt Disney Productions

After all of Cinderella’s hardship she got the guy. She married Prince Charming! It’s grand, she follows Royal Protocol and her shoulders are covered. She has birds holding her veil, but come on cinders losing your shoe again! But lucky for us Walt Disney Pictures are giving it another go in live action next year with Lily James (Lady Rose, Downton Abbey) and Richard Madden (Rob Stark, Game of Thrones) *sigh* I have low hopes with these two but we’ll see!

3:- The Princess and the Frog 2007, Walt Disney Animation Studios

For some brides with plenty of money Tiana’s wedding is an ideal goal, three wedding dresses! But bless Disney for somehow sneaking in a full on puffy Disney princess dress in a film set in the 1920’s! The princess who gets her dream of running a cafe, while being Royal that is some laid back King and Queen. Dreams do come true in New Orleans.

2:- Enchanted, 2007, Walt Disney Productions

Prince Edward and Giselle, they been dreaming of a true loves kiss, they were made to finish each other duets, well until the Evil Queen send Giselle to New York and she meets Robert and their first song meant nothing! But at least they both looked fabulous! Gypsy girls dream come true too!

1:- Little Mermaid, 1989, Walt Disney Pictures

Of course Ariel and Prince Eric’s wedding is the best! No discussion! Not explaining either!

Did you agree? Did you disagree? Did I forget a Disney wedding? Let me know!

Bye xx

V&A Wedding Dress Exhibition 1775-2014 Review

Hello Everyone,

I went with two friends in May to see this exhibition, I was so excited the moment I heard about it, I wanted to attend, dates were arranged immediately so with this review I will be honest!

Recently I've been let down a lot by museums, just because you throw money at it doesn't mean it makes it better, for example Kenisington Palace. I'm really hoping the Imperial War Museum London does not let me down either. So here we go, the museum statement for the exhibition is:-
"The exhibition will highlight the histories of the dresses, revealing fascinating details about the lives of the wearers and offering an intimate insight into their circumstances and fashion choices."

Myself I do not feel this is the case for this exhibition. The exhibition is on two floors, the bottom being based on how tradition of wedding dresses started. With the first dress you see being from 1775, the bottom floor discusses in detail, with plenty of detail on the weddings, I particularly liked the detail for the 1933 wedding dress worn by socialite Margaret Campbell, Duchess of Argyll, as well as having her unique wedding dress, you get to see newspaper clippings as well as the news reel footage of her leaving the church.

There is also video footage of all the Royal Weddings that were captured, which is a nice sit down and watch what is interesting is you see clips of Lady Dianna Spencer's wedding to Prince Charles but no footage of Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall to Prince Charles, which to me is a huge faux pas, considering her wedding dress is on display in the upstairs section!

Right next to the film footage there is a small section of shoes and accessories on display, but you can easily miss them if your not looking.

Upstairs is more of a based on the Haute Couture wedding dresses. Which yes is nice and important, while being fascinating. There are also some celebrity wedding dresses and socialites on display, which makes you feel they clearly had far to much money, but taste is so individual, but what I felt through the upstairs sections is a real lack of connection!

While I do love looking at clothing and appreciating their design, I just feel like questioning the lack of personality in the upstairs, I love my wedding dress and I can tell you why I chose it, how it makes me feel, on top of the memory the first time my mum saw it. I would have liked to see more of that!

It is a nice display lay out, some beautiful dresses, but what surprised me the most is that all these dresses are designer dresses, but not one designer has sponsored this exhibition, it's sponsored by Kuoni, Monsoon and Waterford. Where is Vera Wang? Ian Stuart? I also would have secretly liked to see a Gypsy wedding dress, simple because now a days they are everywhere!

The exhibition does come with a book, which you can buy for £30.00, but I did not buy it because I guess I didn't not really care for the exhibition.

My thoughts are it is a nice exhibition, but it's not something I would shout to all my friends to see. I guess you could say the V&A Hollywood exhibition has spotlit me!

Hope You Enjoyed The Read!

Bye

Order of Service

Hello everyone.

So at the moment in England were having a heat wave. So to cheer my self up and I've managed after 2 hours with plenty of rest stops to get myself in the garden. My leg is still elevated but I needed a change of scenery. So with all this time off in having to take as I can't drive I thought I'd get some wedding stuff done.

I have finished the inside to the order of service and awaiting approval from our vicar I thought i would share the outside.

We brought the 100 pre creased carda from the same shop we brought the invitation card which only cost £24.99 . The ribbon from ebay.

So I'm going sit and get crafting.  Sorry for the short blog but doing this on my phone is not the best.

But remember stay hydrated and applu sun screen!

Bye x x x
