30 Things Before 30!

Hey Everyone,

So turns out I didn't do that bad for things I wanted to achieve in 2014, which is good for me HA! I do not do New Years resolutions but thinking of something different for this year! So here it goes.......

A lot of my friends have been looking at all the things they wanted to do before they were 30 and doing 30 things before they are 30, well I thought 1 year isn't long enough! In 4 years time I will be 30 and I thought instead of a new year resolution  why not focus on my things and try to feel inspired by it! Since the wedding I have been a bit unsure and suffering from a lack of inspiration on what to talk about, so lets give this a go. Here is my list:-

  1. Finish Decorating the House
  2. Buy a New Car
  3. Bake more and share the recipes
  4. Develop my Career (or decide what I want to do!)
  5. Make more items with my Sewing Machine
  6. Be more Creative
  7. Produce a Human Being
  8. Challenge myself to something I wouldn't normally do
  9. Visit America Again
  10. Visit a Zoo in a different Country
  11. Visit the International Holocaust Museum
  12. Visit Auschwitz
  13. Visit Amsterdam
  14. Visit Paris Again
  15. Visit a place I wouldn't think of going to
  16. Visit a Unique Museum
  17. Go back to Hampton Court Palace
  18. Ride a Horse
  19. See Phantom of the Opera
  20. See Le Miserable
  21. Watch all the Hunger Games Films in 1 sitting
  22. Have a Party
  23. Have a Family Party
  24. Do something amazing for my Husbands 30th Birthday
  25. Try a Curry
  26. Read at least 20 new books (book series only count as
  27. Go to a Comedy Club
  28. See a Music Concert in a Major Venue
  29. Experience something unique
  30. Enjoy a Pamper Day
So I have 4 years to crack on with this....

Guest Blog by the Father of the Bride: My Top 10 Wedding Films

Hello There,

Here is my FIRST Guest Blog by the Father of the Bride, Gordon!
(you might be lucky to hear off him some more, but he felt inspired by my latest blog
and decided he wanted to share)

Dad's top 10 of wedding films now don't get me wrong I don't go out of my way to watch them, just part of the film! I prefer a good comedy or even an action film. Surprisingly weddings make good comedy subjects, but weddings can be part of an action film! Take the James Bond films! Here is a bit of trivia for you can you name the two films which 007 gets married?

Here's the list!

10:- Guess Who (2005, Director:- Kevin Rodney Sullivan)
Not quite a wedding film but a renewal of vows between Percy (Bernie Mac) and Marilyn (Judith Scott), who meets his daughter's new boyfriend Ashton Kutcher. Bernie Mac is brilliantly funny, sad he is not here today.

9:- Chances Are (1989, Director Emile Ardolino)

Slipped this one in because Rebecca forgot about it, I was going to put in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers but no one would believe me if I said I enjoyed it - I don't!

Chances Are is a nice Saturday afternoon film you could relax to with a nice cup of tea. It's a film that if you try to explain it, it sounds cheesy but it has a wonderful cast starring Robert Downey Jr, Cybil Shepard, Ryan O'Neil and Mary Stuart Masterson - give it a chance!

(Rebecca: You get a wedding at the beginning and end of the film ekkk! Plus a really good love song that is easy to forget about by Peter Cetera and Cher, called After All)

The official video for the music video is way better that than the film trailer!

8:- The Proposal (2009, Director:- Anne Fletcher)

Another enjoyable film taking the aloof boss (Sandra Bullock) to a situation she is not use to, abusing her poor assistant (Ryan Reynolds), even believing she could trade the dog Kevin for her mobile phone which the eagle has snatched.

7:- Father of the Bride (1991, Director:- Charles Shyer)

Huge fan of Steve Martin and this has to be one of the funniest films and many father can relate to it.

6:- Meet The Parents (2000, Director:- Jay Roach)

Robert De Niro is a revelation here, as Jack Byrnes and his character grows in the next two sequels, especially as he gets closer the Gaylord 'Greg' Focker (Ben Stiller). The first is still the best, children can now say Focker without getting into too much trouble.

5:- Muriel's Wedding (1994, Director:- P.J Hogan)

Out does Mama Mia due to eccentricity of the story line but still using the original sound track of ABBA 'I do, I do, I do, I do....'

4:- Four Weddings & A Funeral (1994, Director:- Mike Newell)

An eclectic mix of people that came together to make a very funny British film, who can forget Rowan Atkinson as Father Gerald, which is his oven personal favorite film he has done!

'In the name of the father, the son, and the holy spigot. Spirit!'

3:- The Princess Bride (1987, Director:- Rob Reiner)

An original Disney fairy tale but not made by Disney 'Unbelievable'. Says it all in the tag line 'Heroes. Giants. Villains. Wizards. True Love - Not just your basic, average, everyday, ordinary, run of the mill, ho-hum fairy tale' - Unbelievable!

2:- The Hangover (2009, Director Todd Phillips)

The original and the best of the tree film series, well thought as they retrace their route to find the missing groom.

Courtesy of Warner Bros.
1:- American Wedding (2003, Director:- Jesse Dylan)

Has to be one of the funniest of the American Pis franchise for me. I still crack up over the dog 'truffle', the engagement, the dinner party, the dance off, I could go on and on.

Courtesy of Warner Bros.

There you go, what do you think?  Do you fancy sending me your top 10? Just get in touch!

Oh by the way the two Bond films:- James Bond gets married in 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' (1969) with George Lazenby and Diana Rigg. Also Sean Connery in 'You Only Live Twice' (1967) marries as part of his deep cover.

10 Things I have Discovered While Planning Our Wedding

Hello There,

Well today we hit the 13 months away mark for our wedding, so while being at work I began feeling reflective and desperately trying to take my mind away from the house, still await the survey results grrrr. Before I began to plan our wedding I believe I was living in ignorance bliss, but even if I watch Don't Tell The Bride I get so nervous for the brides, even shed a tear! So I decided to put a list together of things I have discovered/learnt.....Here we go...

1. It's Your Day! LIES! BIG FAT LIES!

Anyone who says this phrase to you is lying through their teeth, it's the biggest contradiction I keep hearing again and again, EVERYONE has an opinion.

2. Everyone Has An Opinion

No matter who they are, they will tell you what would be good! I love my family dearly, but everyone and I mean everyone has something to say about what your doing, how it should be and what they think you should have! Their opinion MUST be considered. And before you ask 1 is different from 2, because with 2 if their paying you have to bow down to their request. This applies to my fiancee, I wanted a full band diamond wedding ring, i'm getting a half :-(

3. Family Involvement!

They might not be paying a penny to the wedding but they WILL make you feel bad in not giving them what they want and you WILL feel guilty that them purely attending is going to cost them money. Resulting in tears and arguments.

4. The Tears and Arguments!

You can never be prepared for this rollar coaster! Everyone in your wedding party will be subjected to this and if you haven't, your next!

5. Being Emotional Crushed!

I was even more unprepared for this......Last night I accidentally cut an invitation!!!! I'm FINE - but I just can't talk about it...............

6. Making It Yourself!

This is a wonderful process but so time consuming and emotional, yet soul crushing at the same time, especially when it goes horribly wrong.

7. Your Family Must Secretly Hate You!

Why is it the moment you plan a wedding your family gets even stranger! I swear every time I visit or talk to someone I get, I'm not talking to them, Don't sit them near me, I'm not having my photograph taken with them, just to list a few of many! Is it too much for world peace for one day? For us? Our families are going to clash, no matter what due to different backgrounds, so it could go either way....everything will be magically fine or arguments and amazement if no one gets kicked out. Might replace my dad's suit with a ref's outfit.

8. Everyone Has An Uncle K**b Head or 5!

The guest list, my god! Inviting people you are embarrassed by or just don't want near you, well tough because you can't invite them with out them, and they won't come if there not coming........ This discovery is supported by point 1 and 2. I have no comment.

9. Diet! HA!

Everyone at work keeps hearing me say ooohhh I need to diet before the wedding, well HAHAHAHAHAHA! Yeah no one who has actually said the words I need to loose a bit of weight before the wedding has generally began or attempted. I've given myself 6 months before the wedding as my diet cut off and lets face it, it's only half a stone. No motivation here, too much cake and meals to enjoy!!!!

10. On The Verge!!

Pretty much when I discuss or plan the wedding i'm dancing on that fine line of a mental/emotional break down or becoming Bridezilla. This is mostly tested when trying to arrange everyone getting together.

So how do you feel about my list? Do you agree with me? Should I employee Rhod Gilbert as my wedding planner?

I'll review this in a couple months time and see how I am feeling at that stage.
